The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: A New Era of Electric SUVs
Tata Motors is setting the stage for the electric revolution with the highly anticipated 2023 Tata Nexon.ev facelift. Unlike its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts, which recently received their second facelift, the Nexon.ev is undergoing its first mid-life transformation. Both the ICE and EV versions share a common design language, but the electric variant brings a futuristic twist to the table. Excitingly, the pricing for the Nexon.ev facelift will be revealed on September 14, with bookings opening on September 9 at 8 AM. You can secure your reservation with a token payment of just Rs 21,000, either online or at Tata’s dealerships nationwide.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Redefining Design
The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev facelift draws inspiration from the innovative Curvv concept, aligning its aesthetics with its conventional sibling. However, the facelifted models do exhibit distinct differences. Notable design features include a sleek, single-tone, body-colored upper grille, intricate slatted patterns on the lower grille, trapezoidal headlamp housings, and a striking full-width LED light band that displays the charging status. The prominent ‘ev’ badge proudly signifies its electric identity.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Interior Elegance
Step inside the Nexon.ev facelift, and you’ll find a cabin that shares its DNA with the regular Nexon but showcases a fresh layered design. The interior boasts a variety of textures and materials, including carbon fiber-like trim, soft-touch surfaces, and glossy piano black finishes. The conventional gear lever has been replaced with a rotary drive selector for a futuristic touch.
The top-spec variant takes the interior to the next level with a class-leading 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring a revamped user interface. The illuminated two-spoke steering wheel, a customizable 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation, and touch-based HVAC controls with toggle switches create a high-tech atmosphere with minimal physical controls.
Moreover, the Nexon.ev facelift comes equipped with a rich set of features, including a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, fast-charging type-C ports, a single-pane sunroof, JBL sound system, voice commands, OTA updates, and more. An Arcade.ev app suite even allows streaming of popular OTT platforms like Prime Video and Disney Hotstar.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Safety at Its Core
Safety is paramount in the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev facelift. It offers a comprehensive array of safety features, including six airbags, ABS, ESC, front parking sensors, a blind view monitor, ISOFIX anchors, hill descent and ascent control, all-wheel disc brakes, panic brake alert, and emergency and breakdown call assist.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Diverse Variants
Tata Motors has simplified the variant naming with the introduction of Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) to distinguish between the two versions of the Nexon.ev. The MR variant continues to house a 30kWh battery, while the LR variant features a larger 40.5kWh battery. Remarkably, both variants offer enhanced range despite having identical battery sizes.
The MR variant boasts an ARAI-claimed range of 325km, while the LR version stretches that even further to an impressive 465km. Both battery packs maintain IP67 protection levels. Within these variants, Tata offers three distinct trims: Creative, Fearless, and Empowered. Each trim comes with unique exterior colors and interior upholstery. Additionally, optional packages marked with a ‘ ‘ suffix allow for further customization.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Power and Performance
Beneath the sleek exterior, the Nexon.ev facelift packs a punch with its new Gen-2 permanent magnet synchronous motor. This motor is not only 20kg lighter but also uses 30 percent fewer rare earth materials. It incorporates improved cooling and battery management systems, along with more efficient components. The four-level brake regeneration, controlled via paddle shifters, has also been enhanced by 10-15 percent.
The Medium Range (MR) variant delivers an impressive 129 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, while the Long Range (LR) version takes it a step further with 145 bhp and the same 215 Nm of torque. The LR variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150 kmph. Notably, the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels have been significantly improved. The Nexon.ev facelift offers three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport, catering to a range of driving preferences.
2023 Tata Nexon.ev Facelift: Rapid Charging
Charging the Nexon.ev facelift is convenient and fast. Both variants come with a standard 7.2kW AC charger, capable of fully charging the batteries from 10 to 100 percent in just 4.3 hours for the MR and 6 hours for the LR. If you’re in a hurry, a DC fast charger can bring the batteries from 0 to 80 percent in a mere 56 minutes for both versions. What’s more, the Nexon.ev introduces innovative V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging capabilities, allowing you to charge other electrical devices or even another EV effortlessly.
