Delhi Police Initiates Investigation into Teacher’s Alleged Religious Remarks
The Delhi Police announced on Tuesday that they will be investigating a teacher who has been booked for allegedly making pejorative remarks against a particular religious community within her classroom at a school located in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar.
“We have received a complaint from some students about some religious comments made by a teacher. We counselled these students in the presence of our juvenile welfare officer and also the NGO providing counseling,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rohit Meena.
After the counseling sessions, the police proceeded to file appropriate charges against the teacher. Meena emphasized, “Now we are in the stage of collecting maximum evidence and based on the evidence, we will take suitable action. We will examine her soon.”

The incident reportedly occurred on August 23, as described by Hasibul Hassan, an ex-councilor who promptly informed the police after being approached by the concerned parents. “As soon as the parents told me, I reached the school. I met the principal and informed the local police,” said Hassan.
“A class teacher says which religion is good and which is bad. What can be more shameful than this? Strict action should be taken against such teachers,” Hassan asserted.
Expressing her concern, a mother whose son also attends the same school stated, “The teacher’s remarks were absolutely wrong, and she should be removed from the school.”
Gandhi Nagar MLA Anil Kumar Bajpai stressed the role of teachers in shaping young minds positively, stating, “This is absolutely wrong. The responsibility of a teacher is to provide good education to the children. The teacher should not pass derogatory comments against any religion or holy place. Such individuals should be arrested.”
