India’s Ambitious Sun-Exploration Mission: Aditya-L1
India is on the cusp of a groundbreaking space endeavor with the imminent launch of the Aditya-L1 mission, a remarkable collaboration between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and several other esteemed institutions. A 1.5 Million Kilometer Odyssey
The Aditya-L1 mission is poised to embark on a remarkable journey, covering an astonishing distance of 1.5 million kilometers. This audacious mission will traverse vast cosmic expanses to reach a strategic point from which it will conduct an in-depth study of the Sun over a span of five years. “Aditya-L1 mission is going to undertake a 15-lakh kilometre long journey. After reaching a point, with the help of 7 instruments, our country is going to study the Sun over a period of the next 5 years,” explained Raghunandan Kumar, Director at the Planetary Society.
Launching into the Unknown
The highly anticipated launch of India’s first-ever dedicated solar observation mission is scheduled for September 2nd. The Aditya-L1 spacecraft will be strategically positioned in an orbit around the Lagrange point, also referred to as L1.
